Sunlit and Backlit

Very few groups of plants are transformed as dramatically as grasses by the effects of different kinds of light. Shafts of afternoon sunlight striking even a single blade of grass can imbue the plant with a magical quality.

Many light conditions react with grasses to create entrancing performances using sunlight and shadow, evoking mystery and intrigue in the process.

An expansive planting, when backlit by low sunshine in either morning or afternoon, quite literally glows and radiates with light reflected from translucent stems, flowers and leaves. The effect is intensified still further by even the slightest breeze.
