A wide ranging group of plants which are grown primarily for their complex and rather beautiful flowers though occasionally also for some striking variegated foliage. Tend to prefer open positions, and depending on type happy in soils from dry to damp and even marginal.

Dainty spikes of complex blue toned flowers are produced during early summer. Best in sunny open spot. Happy in average to heavy and wet soils, and will grow as a pond side marginal. Height 70cm – 90cm.
