Succisia

Succisia, or Devils Bit Scabious, are a group of often native plants that form clumps of low foliage, and from which arise relatively tall, slender, upright stems topped by blue pincushion flowers in summer. Happiest in sunny open aspects with soils that are not too winter wet.

Uncertain name, brilliant plant. Basal rosettes of flattened shiny green leaves produce tall upright stems topped with dainty deep blue pin-cushion flowers in high summer. Very probably a taller form of our native Devilsbit Scabious Succisia pratensis. Sunny open spot. Height 1m-1.2m
