Symphyotrichum are a wide ranging group of durable and beautiful plants offering masses of daisy like flowers, often obscuring the foliage, mostly from high summer onwards. Generally best in sunny open situations, some will cope with a significant level of dry shade. Soils not to wet. Some forms are also known as Aster.
