These ornamental grasses are Deciduous: Cut back stems close to ground level from late February through to the end of March. Cut stems can be left on border as natural mulch or composted.
Pennisetum villosum is probably the least robust fountain grass that we can grow outside in the UK climate, however it will come easily from seed saved the previous summer.
Lovely form of our native tufted hair grass with dark green mounds of foliage and selected for its relatively compact freely produced flowerheads. Both flowers and leaves dry beige by later summer. Sun or part shade. Happy in average to quite damp soils. Height; 60cm – 80cm.
