Ampelodesmos, or Vine Reed, is a single species genera whose tall, quietly elegant flower spikes arise from amongst tough leathery evergreen foliage that was once used to tie vines. Best in an open sunny aspect with soils not too winter wet.

    Vine Reed. Gradually forms imposing mounds of tough leathery evergreen foliage, from which arise tall pale stems of striking usually one sided drooping flowerheads during summer. Sunny open spot. Height; 2m – 2.4m.
