Knoll Gardens introduction in 2020. First spotted as seedling on the nursery Spring Dream is possibly a hybrid between the native Sesleria caerulea and perhaps Sesleria nitida. This compact durable and attractive plant has blueish green slow growing foliage and attractive dainty looking initially dark flowers in early spring.
Happy in full sun or light shade in a variety of soils but not too wet. Height; 20cm – 30cm.

In warmer, and drier, climates seslerias can remain evergreen but in our mild and often damp conditions they are best regarded as being semi evergreen. In practice this simply means that while the plants inclination may be to retain its foliage year-round by the end of the winter that foliage can look fairly bedraggled and so will take being trimmed back to within a few inches or so of the base. Sesleria respond most quickly when not cut back to ground level.
Being early flowering, and if needed, it is best to trim Sesleria Spring Dream either in late winter before the flower buds appear or after flowering has finished in the spring.
