Description
Unlike other seslerias, which can remain evergreen but in our mild and often damp conditions are best regarded as being semi evergreen, the foliage of Sesleria nitida will remain largely intact after the winter.
As this species flowers comparatively early season it should not be cut back until after flowering has finished in late spring to early summer. However, while it can be trimmed back to within a few inches of the base periodically to refresh the look of the plant, on most occasions simply removing the worst of the old flowers and brown leaves will be sufficient. As an alternative to an early cut, trimming back the plant in late winter before the flower buds appear allows the flowers to remain intact for a longer period.
