Description
This native ornamental sedge is largely Evergreen: Comb or rake off any old, tired or dead leaves and flowers in spring. This species can produce a significant amount of flower during the spring and where necessary can be trimmed back hard once flowering is finished. This removes the old and untidy flower stems and encourages fresh green foliage to come from the base.
During harder winters, and even some difficult cultural conditions, the usually evergreen foliage of this sedge can go brown and dormant. In this eventuality the old browned foliage can be trimmed off; either in early spring or as the plant breaks back into growth.
